MINSK, 29 April (BelTA) - Belarus' Alena Furman won gold at the 2024 European Rowing Championship in Szeged, Hungary, BelTA learned from the press service of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Belarus.
The Belarusian competed in the non-Olympic discipline - lightweight women’s single sculls. Alena Furman finished first in the preliminary race, five seconds ahead of her nearest rival. In the final the Belarusian secured an even more confident win. Margaret Cremen of Ireland finished 10 seconds behind to secure silver. Kristyna Neuhortova of the Czech Republic placed third. For Alena Furman the recent victory at the European Rowing Championships became the third gold in her career following her successes in 2018 and 2021.
Tatsiana Klimovich of Belarus won the women’s singles sculls to secure an Olympic berth. The Belarusian finished ten seconds ahead of the athletes from Azerbaijan and Ukraine.
