MINSK, 13 March (BelTA) – The culinary map of Belarus has become available online at gastinia.by, BelTA learned from the Belarusian public association Recreation in the Countryside.
Gastinia.by is a website developed by the Belarusian public association Recreation in the Countryside and students of the International Relations Department of the Belarusian State University. The major goal of the project is to demonstrate Belarus’ rich culinary heritage which survived mostly in the rural area only. The website provides a big variety of local dishes, recipes and their history. Visitors will find here information about gastronomic routes and festivals around Belarus. The website also has a section about “culinary ghosts”, dishes which recipes have almost been committed to oblivion.
There are plans to complement the website with recipes. More than 200 have already been collected. “We hope that our map will be interesting for both Belarusian residents and tourists. For 30% of travelers, food is the main motivation to visit another country,” representatives of the organization noted.
