MINSK, 24 September (BelTA) – Belarus expects to welcome more tourists from Bulgaria, BelTA learned from Alexander Shamko, Belarusian Sport and Tourism Minister, after an agreement on cooperation in physical training and sport was signed between the Belarusian Sports and Tourism Ministry and the Youth and Sport Ministry of Bulgaria on 24 September.
Alexander Shamko said that the agreement the two ministries signed on 24 September will undoubtedly result in more fruitful cooperation in the sphere of tourism. “Indeed, Bulgaria is a favorite recreation spot for Belarusians. But I am convinced that Bulgarian citizens will be interested in our country. Farm tourism and eco-tourism as well as healthcare tourism are actively developing in Belarus. All those factors make Belarus more attractive to foreign tourists,” said the official.
Alexander Shamko also stressed that the two countries are going to expand cooperation in sport affairs. According to the source, a lot of new sport facilities have been built in Belarus in the last few years while a number of existing sport facilities have been reconstructed. “There is no doubt we will be able to come to terms with regard to the organization of joint training events and sparring sessions for the national teams. The approach will enhance their preparations for the top sport forums,” said the Belarusian Sports and Tourism Minister.
The fifth session of the Belarusian-Bulgarian intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation is scheduled to take place in Minsk on 23-25 September. During the plenary session the sides discussed the current state and prospects of development of bilateral cooperation in the production sector, agriculture, standardization, transport, science and technology, sport and tourism, the development of investment activities, and interaction at the regional level.
During the session the sides signed agreements on cooperation in sport and agriculture. A memorandum on cooperation between the National Agency of Investment and Privatization of Belarus and the InvestBulgaria Agency (IBA) was signed during the business forum that took place at premises of the Minsk branch of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry on 24 September.
