Maslenitsa 2024 in Belarus

Maslenitsa is one of the most cheerful and favorite holidays in the folk calendar of Belarusians. It bids farewell to the long cold winter and welcomes the long-awaited spring. Since ancient times, every day of the Maslenitsa week, that precedes the strictest Lent of the year, has its own name and is filled with original rituals: The Welcoming of Lady Maslenitsa, Playing , Sweet Tooth , Mother-in-Law's Eve and Sister-in-Law's gatherings, The Forgiveness Sunday.... The Maslenitsa menu traditionally features homemade pancakes and blinis, cheese and butter. Our ancestors believed that pancakes symbolized the sun and the approach of spring, and cheese and butter "attracted" wealth.

In 2024, Maslenitsa is celebrated from 11 to 17 March but tourist locations launched the themed holidays in February.
