Belarus Events Calendar: April 2019

Salvador Dali exhibition in Minsk

Thanks to founder of the collection and president of the Salvador Dali company Beniamino Levi, who worked with the Spanish surrealist in the 1960s, Minsk residents will see an exposition of more than 100 artworks created by Dali. The collection includes sculpture, graphics, jewelry, decorative and applied art.

Andy Warhol’s screenprints Endangered Species

The exhibition of king of pop art Andy Warhol is on show in Belarus for the first time. The American artist’s series of screenprints “Endangered Species” portrays animals which population is dwindling. Experiments with colors and Andy Warhol’s unusual technique increases people’s awareness of the dangers the animal world is facing.

Leisure 2019 tourism expo

The four-day tourism expo Leisure 2019 will welcome travel companies from different countries, spa resorts and farmsteads to showcase their services. The forum will also include seminars and master classes, while visitors will have a chance to choose from numerous tourist offers from leading Belarusian and foreign travel agencies.

New York jazz star Jeremy Pelt in Minsk

This will be the first Minsk concert of the renowned New York jazz trumpeter Jeremy Pelt. The musician is famous for his talent to combine the traditions of the legendary 1950s and modern Afro-Jazz.  Jeremy Pelt and Paberts Jazz Quartet will perform in Minsk as part of the program World Jazz Stars in Minsk.

Valery Leontiev in Minsk

People’s Artist of Russia Valery Leontiev will give a grand concert timed to his 70th anniversary. The program I Will Be Back features his old hits and new acts. The audience will be treated to a stunning show by the Echo group and the Dangerous Liaisons ballet.

Marvelous House circus show

The Belarusian State Circus is going to mark its 60th birthday with a new show, Marvelous House. The show will feature trampoliners, strongmen, trapeze artists and clowns. The audience will also see bears riding skateboards, horses, coatis and sea lions.

Leningrad Band in Minsk

Leningrad Band has already given several sold-out concerts in Minsk before. Frontman Sergei Shnurov loves the Minsk public as much as Minskers love him. “I have not seen such a vibe anywhere else in the world,” Sergei Shnurov describes the atmosphere of his Minsk concerts. After the noisy and perky concert in Minsk Arena on 1 December, Leningrad will get on stage of the country’s biggest concert venue again on 5 April.

White Elephant Quest in Mir Castle

It is time to unravel the secret of the White Elephant that has been kept by the Mir Castle for nearly a century already. However, this will be no peace of cake: participants of the quest will have to resolve a series of mysteries. The Mir Castle keeper has prepared a number of challenges that will require a great deal of logical thinking and resourcefulness from brave travelers.

Philipp Kirkorov in Minsk

After the anniversary show I staged by Cirque du Soleil director Franco Dragone, the Russian pop icon will present his new fabulous show dedicated to the Alter Ego of the pop king. This spectacular show features his greatest hit Blue is My Mind and provocative Ibiza sung in duo with Nikolai Baskov.

Denis Matsuev in Minsk

A solo concert of the star of the Russian piano school will take place in Minsk on 6 April. On the stage of the Palace of the Republic Denis Matsuev will present a new concert program for the Minskers, who are not indifferent to classic music.

Obstacle race Patriot

The obstacle race will take place at Stalin’s Line for the second time: the first test of patriots’ endurance took place in February. The event will feature extreme distances for men and women as well as a race for kids. Along the entire route sportsmen will have to deal with unusual obstacles accompanied by “realistic” explosions and shots. Every participant will get a commemorative medal while the best athletes will be awarded in a magnificent ceremony on a tank.

Circus show Illusion and Laughter

The new program from the Gomel Circus called Illusion and Laughter promises to instill spring mood into the spectators. The program will feature a show of Argentinian parrots, trained racoons, camels doing tricks, an equestrian acrobatics number, captivating numbers by gymnasts, funny banter from the clowns, and an Illusionary Amusement Ride!

Benito Gonzalez Trio (USA)

The New York musicians Benito Gonzales Trio will present a jazz program in Minsk as part of their European tour. The band includes the virtuoso pianist Benito Gonzalez, the contrabass player, composer, and band leader Ark Ovrutski, and the drummer David Hodek, whose skills Belarusians could appreciate during a Myron Walden concert in 2018.

The 26th information and communications technology forum and expo TIBO 2019

The year’s largest event in the Belarusian IT sphere will take place on 8-12 April. Modern technological trends in various fields – from sport to healthcare – will be presented at TIBO. Apart from competitions for the title of the best Belarusian website in various nominations, the forum will include roundtable sessions, workshops, a battle of startups as well as several international conferences.

Belarus Fashion Week Fall-Winter 2019/20

The largest fashion industry event in Belarus will present trends of the autumn-winter 2019/2020 season. The country’s top catwalk will feature collections by the leading Belarusian fashion designers and brands: NELVA, Lakbi, Candy Lady, emse, Natalia Korzh, BALUNOVA Fashion Design Studio, T.Efremova by Luxury Fox… Fans will also be happy to see products by foreign guests of the Belarus Fashion Week – the Italian fashion designer Alberto Zambelli and the brand Pinte.

Georgian ballet Lelo and Givi Kbilashvili in Minsk

After the house was sold out in December 2018, the Georgian ballet Lelo is back with the new program Soul of Georgia. It is a dancing play featuring 22 compositions. The leading dancer Givi Kbilashvili has performed as part of the ensembles Metekhi and Sukhishvili as well as the national royal ballet of Georgia and even the Xinjiang Grand Theater in China.

International Easter festival Joy

Easter is one of the key celebrations in the Eastern Orthodox Church. This year’s Easter will be celebrated on 28 April. A spring fair will be arranged in anticipation of that. Visitors will be able to buy food cooked by monks, handmade gifts and souvenirs. Visitors will be able to learn the secrets of painting Easter eggs and listen to church choirs.

Fest of Tourist Guides

The 10th edition of the festival of tourist guides timed to the International Day for Monuments and Sites (18 April) will bring together professional and amateur tourist guides. Over two days they will take tourists on excursions free of charge. Such excursions will be arranged all over Belarus. MotoVeloExpo

The 2019 motorcycle season in Belarus will kick off with MotoVeloExpo. The program of the exhibition features custom drag bikes, a cross country cycling marathon and the Umbrella Girl Belarus 2019 contest. Visitors will be able to purchase products for active leisure and sports from the world-famous brands, watch motorcycles passing by in a procession, see a 402-meter display race, a drift triking competition and BMX bike stunts.

Neman Spring Festival on Augustow Canal

The opening of the 2019 water season on the Augustow Canal will be one of the tourist draws of Grodno Oblast. About 200 athletes from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine and Poland will cover record-long distances on kayaks and catamarans. Visitors will be able to watch the competition, take kayaking lessons, learn how to make a kayak from materials at hand and take part in competitive eating.

Dima Bilan in Minsk

Tamara Gverdtsiteli in Minsk

Tamara Gverdtsiteli’s talent is highly appreciated in Belarus. In 2017 her name star beautified the festival alley of the Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk. The singer will present in Minsk her new program together with the Presidential Orchestra of Belarus. The concert will feature new songs as well as well-known hits, such as Molitva, Maminy Glaza, Vivat, Korol!

Zveri in Minsk

2018 was rich in events for the Russian pop rock band Zveri: two new albums, a tour Ward Buddies, frontman Roma Zverev’s debut in Kirill Serebrennikov’s film Leto, and the Cannes Award for the soundtrack to the film. In Minsk the rock band will present their album 10 and will also sing their well-known hits, including Do Skoroi Vstrechi, Rayony-Kvartaly, Napitki Pokrepche.

Verbnitsa Festival in Strochitsy

One week ahead of Easter the Orthodox believers celebrate Palm Sunday: this year it will be marked on 21 April. Visitors of the skansen museum will learn about the traditions of Belarusian Verbnitsa, see a theatrical play and try their hands in decorating and blessing willow twigs.

Bullet For My Valentine in Minsk

The British heavy metal band Bullet For My Valentine returns to Minsk with their third concert. BFMV is bringing their sixth album Gravity, and also all-time hits.
