MINSK, 20 August (BelTA) – The Belarusian embassy will organize concerts and film screenings in Syria to mark 25 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Syria Alexander Ponomarev said in an interview to the Syrian Arab News Agency, BelTA has learned.

“We are ready to celebrate the 25^th anniversary of the Belarusian-Syrian diplomatic relations on 26 August, the day when our countries signed the corresponding agreement,” the ambassador said.

According to Alexander Ponomarev, a number of events are scheduled in Syria on 26 August. They will feature a tour of a dance company from Belarus. A concert in the Damascus Opera House will take place in early September. Belarusian artists will also perform at the international universal fair which is due in the Syrian capital on 6-15 September.

“We are also mulling over other cultural events such as the Days of Belarusian Cinema in Syria,” the diplomat added.
