MINSK, 7 September (BelTA) – Belarus have tied their 2018 FIFA World Cup opening qualifier against France, BelTA has learned.
On 6 September the Belarusian national football team held France to a 0-0 draw at Borisov Arena.
Timofei Kalachev and Nikolai Signevich gave the French defense a first-half scare, while Belarus’ goalkeeper Andrei Gorbunov denied France’s efforts to score, including attempts from Antoine Griezmann, Olivier Giroud, Dimitri Payet, and others.
Elsewhere in Group A, Sweden drew with the Netherlands 1-1, and Bulgaria beat Luxemburg 4-3.
On 10 October Belarus will travel to the Netherlands, while France will host Bulgaria and Sweden will go to Luxemburg.
