MINSK, 22 November (BelTA) - Laos is hosting the Days of Culture of Belarus, BelTA learned from the Culture Ministry of Belarus.
The Days opened on 20 November and will run through 24 November in Vientiane. The program features performances by the Belarusian state folk music company Svyata, the exposition “Belarus and Belarusians” from the stocks of the National History Museum of Belarus.
Cultural cooperation between the two countries has been developing steadily, the Belarusian Culture Ministry noted. A meeting of the joint commission for bilateral cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the Lao People's Democratic Republic was held in Vientiane on 3-7 February 2014. Belarus’ Deputy Culture Minister Vasily Chernik held a number of meetings with representatives of the Lao Culture Ministry, the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in Vietnam to discuss the organization of the Days of Culture. Belarus hosted the Days of Culture of the Lao People's Democratic Republic on 28 September-2 October last year. The official opening of the Days of Culture which featured Miss Laos 2012 was held in the Belarusian State Philharmonic, while the youth variety theater hosted a concert.
The Belarusian part of the Belarus-Laos joint commission for bilateral cooperation held a meeting in June 2016 to consider the prospects for the development of relations in culture between the two countries.
