MINSK, 2 August (BelTA) – There are plans to scrap the fee collected in Belarus for allowing foreign vehicles to travel along public motorways as from 2019. The measure is stipulated by the bill on amending the Tax Code, BelTA learned from Belarusian Deputy Tax and Duties Minister Ella Selitskaya.
The decision has been prompted by the small revenues generated by the road access fee – about Br9 million so far this year. “I don’t think the decision will entail negative consequences. Contrariwise, considering we are a transit country, we can expect an increase in money flow into the country,” said the official.
Companies and individuals, who own or use foreign automobiles, have to pay the road access fee for now in order to travel along public roads in Belarus.
