MINSK, 19 June (BelTA) – The first medal events in acrobatic gymnastics were held at the European Games in Baku on 19 June. Belgium claimed the women’s Group All-Around gold, with the Belarusian trio of Yekaterina Borisevich, Veronika Nabokina and Karina Sandovich collecting bronze, BelTA informs.
Belgium celebrated the victory with the total of 86,480 points. Russia went second with 85,430 points. The score of 84.610 points brought Belarus to the third place. One of Belarus’ main rivals, the UK, made a serious mistake in the final composition that put them into the 6th position (81,750). Ukraine was fourth with 82,340 points. Azerbaijan finished fifth (82,310).
The combined scores from both of the routines were added to the score earned in the all-around final on Friday.
Belarusians are also expected to make their appearance in two more finals on 21 June. Belarus scored 28,560 points to take second place in the balance qualification routine and third with the total of 28,070 point in the dynamic routine. In the balance and dynamic final Belarus will compete with Azerbaijan Belgium, the UK, Russia and Ukraine.
