MINSK, 25 March (BelTA) – Belarusian athletes won 11 medals at the Sambo World Cup “Kharlampiev Memorial” that took place in Moscow on 22-23 March, BelTA has learned.
The competitions were held at the small arena Luzhniki. Gold medals were claimed by Vera Gorelikova (60kg) and Svetlana Timoshenko (80kg). Silver medals went to Anfisa Kpayeva (48kg), Anzhela Zhilinskaya (72kg), Yekaterina Kalyuzhnaya (over 80kg), Alexander Kruglik (82kg) and Sergei Lesyak (100kg). Bronze medals were collected by Anastasia Matyushko (56kg), Vladislav Burd (57kg), Stepan Popov (74kg), and Ilya Zhupikov (over 100kg).
Competing for medals were more than 250 athletes from 33 countries.
Sambo competitions as part of the 2nd European Games in Minsk will be held at the Palace of Sports on 22-23 June. A total of 144 athletes will compete in 18 medal events.
