MINSK, 23 May (BelTA) – Belarus won ten medals at the 2016 ICF Canoe Sprint World Cup in Duisburg, Germany, BelTA has learned.
Gold medals were clinched by Vitaly Belko and Roman Petrushenko in the K2 1000m, and the Belarusian women’s team of Margarita Makhneva, Nadezhda Lepeshko, Olga Khudenko and Marina Litvinchuk in the K4 200m heat. In the K4 500m the Belarusians finished second, behind Ukraine.
One more gold medal was claimed by the Belarusian team of Dmitry Ryabchenko, Denis Makhlai, Gleb Solodukha and Alexander Volchetsky in the men’s C4 200m final.
The men’s C2 200m silver was collected by Gleb Solodukha and Alexander Volchetsky. Silver also went to Nadezhda Makarchenko and Alena Nozdreva in the women’s C2 500m, and Nikita Borikov in the K1 500m event.
Belarusians also earned three bronze medals: Darya Boichevskaya in the women’s C1 1000m, Darina Pikuleva and Kamila Bobr in the women’s C2 500m and Pavel Medvedev, Vitaly Belko, Oleg Yurenya and Roman Petrushenko in the men’s K4 1000m.
The Belarusian national team continues the preparations for the 31st Summer Olympic Games. The next tournament on their schedule is the European Canoe Sprint Championships in Moscow on 24-26 June.
