MINSK, 5 January (BelTA) – The Year of Tourism of Belarus in China will start with a tourism forum “Belarus Welcomes China” in Chongqing on 10 January, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Embassy in Beijing.
A Belarusian delegation will comprise Deputy Sport and Tourism Minister Mikhail Portnoi and Deputy Chairman of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee Viktor Sirenko. The forum will be attended by both countries’ biggest tourism companies and will feature a presentation of the tourism potential of Minsk Oblast and Belarus, in general.
A series of cultural events will take place from 9 to 11 January. In particular, the Kupalinka folk group of the Belarusian State Philharmonic will give concerts in Fuling and Chongqing. Other highlights include a presentation of modern Belarusian photography and the Belarusian Cinema Days.
The Belarus-China Year of Tourism is expected to form a positive background to promote Belarus’ tourism opportunities in China and boost two-way tourism. BelTA reported earlier that Belarusian Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov offered to officially declare 2018 the Belarus-China Year of Tourism as he met with Premier of China’s State Council Li Keqiang on 1 December 2017. Belarus is currently working on a comprehensive strategy to develop tourism as a national economic driver.
