MINSK, 24 March (BelTA) – Belarusian cyclist Bronislav Samoilov won the 13.3km team time trial as part of Poland’s CCC Sprandi Polkowice at the first stage of Settimana Internazionale Coppi e Bartali in Italy, BelTA learned from the Minsk Cycling Club.
The teams were divided into quarters, with the total of 50 quarters participating in the race. The Polish Sprandi, with Bronislav Samoilov, clocked the best time of 14 minutes 57 seconds to cover the 13.3km distance, two seconds ahead of Team Sky. The French Direct Energie finished third, 13 seconds behind.
Taking part in the Italian cycle road race is also the Minsk Cycling Club team. The first Minsk quarter of Alexander Golovash, Sergei Popok, Yevgeny Sobol and Eduard Vorganov placed 24th with the time of 15.50. The second quarter of Oleg Agiyevich, Stanislav Bozhkov, Konstantin Klimenkov and Roman Romanov clocked 15.52 to finish 26th.
Ilya Koshevoy of Belarus placed 37th with his Wilier Triestina team.
After the first stage of the cycle road race Stanislav Bozhkov of the Minsk Cycling Club is ranked the highest among Belarusian riders, going 50th in the overall classification. He is 1 minutes 5 seconds behind the leader, France’s Lilian Calmejane (Direct Energie).
Three stages are ahead. The Italian cycle road race will end on 26 March.
