Belarus’ border service updates transit rules for foreigners

MINSK, 21 October (BelTA) – The State Border Committee informed how foreign nationals and stateless persons can go through Belarus in transit without medical certificates and self-isolation, BelTA informs.

“Starting from 00:00 on 22 October, foreign citizens and stateless persons going through Belarus in transit will not need to present a document confirming a negative COVID-19 test result at the border. They will not have to go into the 10-day self-isolation, either,” the State Border Committee informed.

In this case travelers must present proof that they will leave Belarus within 24 hours. Such documents can be a ticket, a Belarusian transit visa, an official invitation of the body (organization) of the destination country, vouchers to medical (health) facilities, etc.

Foreigners and stateless persons who do not have documents confirming the 24-hour transit also retain the possibility of entering Belarus without medical certificates and self-isolation. In this case, border guards will give such people a questionnaire, in which a visitor must write: Transit through the territory of the Republic of Belarus within 24 hours. The person will have to keep this questionnaire and to present it to a border guard when leaving the country.

“Persons who cannot leave the country within 24 hours will be required to present a document confirming a negative COVID-19 test result at the border (this should be a PCR test that can be done at a local health facility,” the State Border Committee said.

The committee also stressed that citizens of Belarus do not need to present a document confirming a negative COVID-19 test result at the border.
