MINSK, 9 December (BelTA) - Gloria Bruni's Pinocchio opera based on the fairytale by Carlo Collodi will be premiered in the Bolshoi Theater of Belarus on 19 December, Yelena Balabanovich, the senior editor with the theater's marketing communications service, told BelTA.
“This opera was first performed in Hamburg in 2008. Then it has een staged by theaters in Naples, Parma, London and other cities in Europe. In December, during the winter holidays, the fairytale story will be showed on the Minsk stage. The production team include: conductor Vladimir Ovodok, director Natalia Baranovskaya, designer Lyubov Sidelnikova,” Yelena Balabanovich noted.
Natalia Baranovskaya will debut in the capacity of director. According to her, it will be interesting for young artists to participate in the fairytale opera: every role is colorful and memorable and requires not only vocal talent but also acting. The story of the wooden puppet that became a real live boy is still relevant. We all make mistakes. By correcting them we grow. Pinocchio makes mistakes but finally sacrifices himself to save another human being,” the director said.
The libretto of the opera has been written by Ursel Scheffler and Natalia Baranovskaya based on the fairytale by Carlo Collodi. Choreography is by the winner of international competitions Sergey Mikel, lighting designer - Lyudmila Kunash, computer graphic designer - Denis Astashenok. Viewers will see picturesque scenery, bright costumes, use of video projections and animated series.
