MINSK, 9 April (BelTA) – Belarus’ Greco-Roman wrestling team has picked up four medals at the international tournament Kristjan Palusalu Memorial in Tallinn, BelTA informs.
With a gold medal at 82 kg, Viktor Sosunovsky secured Belarus’ best result at the tournament. He saw off competition from Vyacheslav Zvarich (Ukraine), Alexander Jersgren (Sweden), and Ramazan Abacharaev (Russia). Viktor Sosunovsky beat his younger compatriot Stanislav Shafarenko in the final in just 1:55.
Another Belarusian, Maksim Kazharsky, lost in the final of the 60kg event to Russia’s Sergei Emelin. The fourth medal went to Alexander Grabovik (97kg) who beat boxers from Austria, Finland, and Germany. His great run in Tallinn was halted by Musa Evloev of Russia.
For Belarusian freestyle wrestlers, the international event in Tallinn has become an important stage of preparations for the European Championships due in Kaspiysk, Russia from 30 April to 6 May.
