MINSK, 22 April (BelTA) - Belarus marked their 100th Fed Cup by BNP Paribas tie with a victory to earn a ticket back into the World Group after Vera Lapko and Lidziya Marozava combined to oust Viktoria Kuzmova and Anna Karolina Schmiedlova 6-3 6-4 in the decisive doubles on 22 April, BelTA has learned.
Vera Lapko and Lidziya Marozava teamed up for the first time in competition and did a great job for a 3-2 advantage.
Aliaksandra Sasnovich beat Jana Cepelova on 21 April, and Aryna Sabalenka defeated Anna Karolina Schmiedlova on 22 April.
“This morning we did not even know we were going to play. We did our best to do everything right. Fans were a great support. The result is the victory which takes us back to the World Group,” Lidziya Marozava said after the match.
