Belarus’ Aryan Tsiutryn wins bronze at World Wrestling Championships in Norway

MINSK, 5 October (BelTA) – Belarusian freestyle wrestler Aryan Tsiutryn won bronze in the men’s 57kg event at the 2021 World Wrestling Championships in Oslo, Norway, BelTA has learned.

On the way to the podium the Belarusian defeated Georgia’s Goga Dzigua 11-1 and Bekhbayar Erdenebat of Mongolia 3-1. Then, Aryan Tsiutryn lost to Alireza Sarlak of Iran 6-7. In the repechage bout the Belarusian routed Guesseppe Ricardo Rea Villarroel of Ecuador 10-0. Aryan Tsiutryn solved Turkey’s Suleyman Atli 3-1 to secure bronze for Belarus.  

The event was won by Thomas Gilman of the United States who beat Alireza Sarlak of Iran 5-3 in the final. Another bronze medal went to Germany’s Horst Lehr.

Amarhajy Mahamedau of Belarus had a chance to take bronze in the men’s 92kg event but was stopped by Osman Nurmagomedov of Azerbaijan (0-2). The second bronze medal went to Jden Michael Tbory Cox of the United States. The champion title in the event was secured by Iran’s Kamran Ghasempour who defeated Russia’s Magomed Kurbanov 8-4 in the final.

The men’s 65kg event gold was won by Russia’s Zagir Shakhiev who defeated Iran’s Amirmohammad Yazdanicherati of Iran 14-4 in the final. Bronze medals went to Mongolia's Tulga Tumur Ochir and Alibek Osmonov of Kyrgyzstan.

In the men’s 79kg event Jordan Burroughs of the United States won the fifth gold in his career after taking a solid win, 5-1, over Iran’s Mohammad Nokhodilarimi. Bronze medals were collected by Radik Valiev of Russia and Georgia’s Nika Kentchadze.
