MINSK, 20 March (BelTA) - Belarusian taekwondo fighter Arman Marshall Silla won gold in the +87kg category at the G-1 Belgian Open, BelTA has learned.
On his way to the title, the Belarusian athlete defeated a representative of Cote d’Ivoire’s 36-16 and routed a German fighter 8-0. In the final Arman Marshall Silla was to face Russia’s Yuri Kirichenko, but the opponent had to withdraw due to an injury.
Vladislav Savlukov of Belarus claimed the 80kg silver in Lommel, Belgium. He saw off his fellow Belarusian Boris Smychkov and then dispatched an athlete from Serbia before losing to Croatia’s Luka Horvat in the final.
In 2017 Belarusian taekwondo fighters are expected to take part in the Muju WTF World Taekwondo Championships in South Korea on 24-30 June and the G-Ranking ETU European Olympic Categories Championships in Minsk on 7-10 September.
