MINSK, 23 January (BelTA) – The Belarusian Antarctic station will be fitted to work all the year round, Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB) Vladimir Gusakov told reporters on 23 January, BelTA has learned.
“The Belarusian Antarctic station will be up and running soon. I believe that the installation works will be completed this year. This will be a permanent station. We will be able to work there all the year round, not only during the season,” Vladimir Gusakov said.
The 11th Belarusian Antarctic expedition got underway in autumn 2018. “The exploration of the polar region can be compared to space activities in terms of its complexity and resources,” he said.
Vladimir Gusakov noted that Belarusian scientists together with manufacturing enterprises are working on unmanned hardware, including hardware for agriculture.
The Integral company rolled out new electronic components to be used in space. R&D centers came up with new technology to process information and produce materials for space research. Vladimir Gusakov recalled that Belarusian solutions are used in international space projects to study Mars and Mercury. One of them is a multi-layer EMF radiation shield. Such shields were developed for the Japanese spacecraft sent into Orbit in October 2018 to study Mercury.
