MINSK, 9 July (BelTA) – A total of 109 Belarusian athletes will compete in 20 sports at the upcoming Games of the XXXII Olympiad, BelTA learned from the press service of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Belarus.
Belarus’ NOC has announced Belarus’ roster for the Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo that will be running from 23 July to 8 August. The lineup is available on the NOC website.
Belarus will be represented at the Olympic Games in Tokyo by 109 athletes who will compete in 20 sports. The Belarusian Olympians have already started to depart for Japan. The first representatives of the Belarusian delegation to arrive in Japan will be the sailing team, swimmers, rowers, archers, and shooters. Belarusian hammer thrower Ivan Tsikhan was elected Belarus' Olympic Team Captain.
At the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Belarus took one gold, four silver, and four bronze medals, placing 40th in the unofficial medal table.
