MINSK, 27 September (BelTA) – Andrei Skabelka of Belarus has made it into the top ten coaches of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). The rating was developed by the KHL press service, BelTA has learned.
Former forward of the Belarusian national team Andrei Skabelka made the list of top ten KHL coaches thanks to the successful performance of HC Sibir Novosibirsk he led in 2014-2017. The Novosibirsk team under the tutelage of the Belarusian coach reached the 2014-2015 season final and won the bronze of the championship. At present Andrei Skabelka is coaching HC Avangard Omsk that is to take on HC Dinamo Minsk in the KHL regular season on 27 September.
Among the top ten KHL coaches are also Oleg Znarok, Dmitry Kvartalnov, Andrei Nazarov, Raimo Summanen, Milos Riha, Mike Keenan, Ilya Vorobyov, Vyacheslav Bykov, and Zinetula Bilyaletdinov.
Andrei Skabelka launched his coaching career in HC Metallurg Novokuznetsk in 2007. He then headed HC Gomel which he led to bronze of the national ice hockey championship twice.
