MINSK, 8 July (BelTA) – Belarusian runner Alina Talay has clinched the 100m Hurdles silver at the ongoing European Athletics Championships in Amsterdam, BelTA has learned.
One of the leaders of the Belarusian national team, bronze medalist of the 2015 world championships, was considered among the favorites of the tournament. The athlete showed the all-best time of 12.76 seconds in the semifinal. The Belarusian clocked 12.68 seconds in the final, but finished behind German Cindy Roleder who made it 12.62. Britain's defending 100m hurdles champion Tiffany Porter took bronze in a time of 12.76 seconds.
Yekaterina Poplavskaya of Belarus was 13th in the semifinal (her time is 13.04), while her teammate Elvira German placed 16th (13.18).
The shot-put women final was won by Germany’s Christina Schwanitz with her 20.17m attempt. Yulia Leontyuk of Belarus finished fourth with her throw of 18.20m. Her teammate Alena Dubitskaya placed sixth (18.03m).
