MINSK, 4 April (BelTA) - The Belarusian national football team go 96th with 1226.54 points in the recently published rankings of the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), BelTA has learned.
In the new season Belarusian footballers have played two friendlies, losing 0-2 to Montenegro and drawing 0-0 with Malta. Belarus will play its next matches in June and kick off its UEFA Nations League campaign in September. Belarus’ opponents in Group C3 are Northern Ireland (73rd in FIFA rankings), Bulgaria (83rd), Luxembourg (87th).
The FIFA rankings are topped by Argentina. Top Five also include France, Belgium, England, and Brazil. Among the post-Soviet states Ukraine ranks the highest (22nd). Russia goes 35th. The next FIFA rankings will be published on 20 June.
Belarus go 57th in the FIFA women’s rankings. The rankings are topped by Spain. Top Five also comprise England, France, the USA, and Germany. The next women’s rankings will be published on 14 June.
