MINSK, 28 December (BelTA) – BC Tsmoki Minsk have become holders of the Belarus Cup title for the 12th time, BelTA has learned.
In the final at the Olimpiets sport center in Mogilev Rostislav Vergun’s team defeated BC Borisfen 83-79 overtime. Robert Lowery led the winning team with 25 points.
BC Rubon Vitebsk took bronze beating BC Grodno-93, 94-75.
In the semifinal BC Tsmoki Minsk routed the team from Grodno 86-57, while BC Borisfen proved stronger over the Vitebsk team, 102-73.
The medal matches featured the same teams last time. The Minsk Dragons defeated BC Borisfen 109-65 in the final. BC Grodno-93 secured bronze seeing off BC Rubon 96-88.
BC Tsmoki Minsk have won the Belarus Cup 12 years in a row. BC Grodno-93 raised the trophy seven times.
The women’s event was won by BC Horizont Minsk Oblast that defeated BC BDU Tsmoki 87-43 in September. Bronze went to BC Olympia that edged BC Tsmoki Minsk 76-72.
