MINSK, 21 June (BelTA) – Victoria Azarenka of Belarus has won her first match after coming back to sport, BelTA has learned.
The Mallorca Open first-round match between Victoria Azarenka and World No.74 Risa Ozaki of Japan lasted for two days. On Tuesday evening the Belarusian won the first set 6-3. The second was a close battle and ended up with a victory of the Japanese player 6-4. The third set was also touch and lengthy. The two players were quite tired as they spend two hours and 18 minutes on the court, and at 5-4 to Risa Ozaki’s favor the referee decided to stop the game as it was too dark to play. On the next day the Belarusian led the third set to her overall victory of 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (9-7).
Victoria Azarenka will face Croatia’s Ana Konjuh who defeated Ons Jabeur of Tunisia 7-6, 4-6, 6-3. After the Mallorca Open, the Belarusian will travel to England to prepare for the Wimbledon which will be running on 3-16 July.
