Azarenka progresses to Charleston quarterfinal

MINSK, 5 April (BelTA) – It took two hours and 45 minutes for Belarus’ world number 26 Victoria Azarenka to see off world number 68 Taylor Townsend of the United States, 6-7 (5-7), 6-3, 6-4, and reach the Charleston round three, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian will next face Jessica Pegula of the United States. In the opener Victoria Azarenka eased past Italy’s world number 56 Elisabetta Cocciaretto, 6-1, 6-2.

In the men’s doubles semifinal in Italy’s Barletta Ivan Liutarevich of Belarus and Ukraine’s Vladyslav Manafov will take on French players Theo Arribage and Benjamin Bonzi.

The events in Charleston and Barletta will be over on 7 April.
