MINSK, 8 September (BelTA) – Victoria Azarenka (world number 27) has outlasted Karolina Muchova (world number 26) of the Czech Republic 5-7, 6-1, 6-4 to reach the US Open quarterfinal, BelTA has learned.
The former World No.1 emerged victorious after two hours and 23 minutes on the court.
Earlier, Victoria Azarenka cruised past Austria’s world number 139 Barbara Haas 6-1, 6-2, saw off Belarus’ world number 11 Aryna Sabalenka 6-1, 6-3 and took a solid win over Poland’s Iga Swiatek, ranked world No.53, 6-4, 6-2.
Victoria Azarenka will take on No.16 seed Elise Mertens who stunned No.4 Sofia Kenin of the USA 6-3, 6-3.
