MINSK, 12 June (BelTA) – Former world number one Victoria Azarenka of Belarus led a clinic for young tennis players at the National Olympic Tennis Center in Minsk on 12 June, BelTA has learned.
One of Belarus’ leading players confessed that she missed such events. Over 50 students of Minsk tennis schools descended on the sports center to meet the Olympic champion. Victoria Azarenka brought her coach Wim Fissette. During a clinic which lasted for slightly more than half an hour, boys and girls had a try to go against Victoria on court and got valuable advice on improving their tennis skills.
“I would like very much to see this clinic bring benefits to young players. Today we saw a lot of talented children who are able to become professional players. They just need to work hard for this,” Victoria Azarenka said.
Best players were named after the clinic. All the participants of the event got presents from the organizers and an autograph from the prominent tennis player.
Victoria Azarenka is an Olympic champion (London 2012) and a two-time winner of the Australian Open.
