MINSK, 20 August (BelTA) – Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus has reached the WTA top 30 for the first time in her professional career, BelTA has learned.
A week ago the Belarusian was 34th in the WTA rankings. She moved up to 25th after reaching the Cincinnati semifinal. Aliaksandra Sasnovich of Belarus lost one spot to place 37th. Vera Lapko is 70th and Victoria Azarenka is 80th.
Aryna Sabalenka and Aliaksandra Sasnovich are currently taking part in the Connecticut Open 2018. Aryna Sabalenka is to open against Australia’s world number 64 Samantha Stosur. Aliaksandra Sasnovich will take on France’s world number 54 Kristina Mladenovic.
