MINSK, 19 October (BelTA) – Belarus’ tennis player Aryna Sabalenka has been named the 2018 Newcomer of the Year by the World Tennis Association, BelTA has learned.

This year the Belarusian secured her WTA maiden title in New Haven before lifting the WTA Premier 5 title at the Dongfeng Motor Wuhan Open. With these achievements, she broke into the WTA Top 20 reaching a new career-high singles ranking of No.11.

Kiki Bertens has been recognized the 2018 WTA Most Improved Player of the Year and Serena Williams the Comeback Player of the Year.
