VITEBSK, 20 June (BelTA) – Artists from seven countries will take part in the International Chagall Plein Air in Vitebsk, BelTA learned from the Marc Chagall Museum in Vitebsk.
Taking part in the art forum will be seven artists from Belarus, Russia, Latvia, Ukraine, Germany, the Netherlands and Israel. The event will take place on 25 June – 7 July. The artists will paint in Vitebsk and its suburbs. They will give master classes and will be taken on a sightseeing tour around Vitebsk. The forum will wrap up with a final exhibition of the artists’ works at the Marc Chagall Art Center on 7 July, the birthday of the famous artist. A catalogue showcasing the works of the forum participants will be published following the plein air.
The first and second editions of the International Chagall Plein Air took place in Vitebsk in 1994 and 1997. The third forum was resumed after a 19-year break in 2016 to mark the 25th anniversary of the Marc Chagall Museum in Vitebsk. Resumption of the Chagall plein airs fosters international cultural contacts, promotes the works of the artist, and enriches the Marc Chagall Museum holdings with modern additions of Belarusian and foreign artists, the museum noted.
The International Chagall Plein Air is arranged by the culture department of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee and the Marc Chagall Museum.
