Art festival Motley Tulip in Brest to feature theater art, choreography first time ever

BREST, 10 May (BelTA) – The third international art festival Motley Tulip in Brest will feature theater art and choreography for the first time ever, BelTA learned from the festival’s art director Valentina Maltseva.

The festival will take place in the Brest Academic Drama Theater on 23-25 May. “The previous festivals were purely musical. This year’s program is more expansive. Theater art will be represented for the first time ever. The flamenco performance Frida will be staged by a theater company from Saint Petersburg. Natalya Zaikova is the author of the production. I am convinced that the performance of the modern choreography theater Ballet Theater will be a remarkable event. Viewers will see the romantic play Topolya i veter [poplar trees and wind],” said Valentina Maltseva.

The festival will traditionally begin with performances by singers and instrumental music maestros. Brest residents and visitors will be able to appreciate the concert titled as Six Looks at the 20th Century. Musicians from Belarus, Russia, France, Japan, and Poland will take part in the concert. In particular, the laureate of international contests Joanna Freszel will present a program heavily focusing on Polish vocal music.

“We’ve tried to bring the best Polish performers to Brest. Joanna Freszel sings works by Polish classic and modern authors. Apart from that, we expect the famous piano player Olena Skrok to come, too. I hope Brest residents will get unforgettable impressions from their performances,” noted Consul of the Consulate General of Poland in Brest Krzysztof Rosinski.

24 May will be as full of events. Artists of the Saint Petersburg modern choreography theater Ballet Theater will be the first ones to perform. In the afternoon spectators will be entertained by musicians from Minsk with their drummer show Stress. The next day theater art fans are invited to attend the play Frida, which will be dedicated to the Mexican artist Frida Kahlo.

“This year’s festival will last for three days. The program has turned out to be very impressive. Tickets are still available. The time of vigorous sales is just about to begin,” stressed Larisa Novitskaya, Deputy Director for Information of the Brest Academic Drama Theater.

The international art festival Motley Tulip in Brest has been organized upon the initiative of the enterprise GoodPower in association with the Brest Academic Drama Theater. “Any city develops only when culture thrives in it. Respectively, the economy gets more effective. We are happy we are sponsored by the diplomatic missions of Poland and France as well as multiple businessmen. Next year we will try to make the festival even more prestigious. We intend to encourage graphic artists to participate in it,” stressed Volfgang Kulov, Director of the Motley Tulip festival.
