MINSK, 27 August (BelTA) – The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Poland will represent the country at the events marking the 80th anniversary of the outbreak of World War II on 1 September, Anatoly Glaz, Head of the Information and Digital Diplomacy Office, Press Secretary of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told BelTA.
“Invitations to take part in the anniversary observances were sent to leaders of NATO, EU and Eastern Partnership countries. We appreciate the invitation of the Polish president to the Belarusian head of state. We will always remember millions of Soviet and Allied soldiers who fought for freedom and peaceful future during the Second World War, and millions of civilians who fell victim of Nazism, as the memory of them is sacred for Belarusians,” Anatoly Glaz said.
“We will never stop saying, and this is written in our history textbooks, that the Soviet Union and all its nations made a decisive and invaluable contribution to the victory over Nazism and liberation of Europe. The terrible timeline of that period is a warning for today’s intentional community about the need to maintain peace and security in the world,” Anatoly Glaz underlined.
