MINSK, 25 June (BelTA) – Belarus’ Aliaksandra Sasnovich has returned to the WTA Top 50, BelTA informs.
Last week the Belarusian was not very successful at the tournament in Spain. However, she managed to climb one spot up with the total of 1,053 points. One of Belarus’ best tennis players Aryna Sabalenka is currently ranked 45 in the world with 1,145 points. Vera Lapko is 84th with 782 points, Victoria Azarenka is 87th with 771 points.
Aryna Sabalenka is gearing up to take part in the Eastbourne International this week. The Belarusian will open against United States’ world number 81 Sachia Vickery.
On 25 June three Belarusians are set to play their first matches at the Wimbledon. Belarus’ world number 126 Ilya Ivashko will take on Dan Evans of the UK (World No.340). Vladimir Ignatik of Belarus (212) will play John-Patrick Smith of Australia (340). Belarus’ Egor Gerasimov (217) will take on Dennis Novak of Austria (177). Three qualifying matches need to be played in order to reach the main draw of the tournament.
