MINSK, 16 October (BelTA) – 4G communication will be made available in the Minsk metro in April 2019 before the 2nd European Games Minsk 2019 begin, BelTA learned from Oleg Sedelnik, Director General of the Belarusian telecommunication infrastructure operating company beCloud.
4G mobile service should be enabled in the Minsk metro ahead of the 2nd European Games Minsk 2019 in line with the government’s instructions. The fastest Internet access in the metro systems will be made available using beCloud’s infrastructure. The approach will give equal terms to the mobile carriers, which want to offer 4G services to their customers.
All the facilities and venues the 2nd European Games Minsk 2019 will use will have to get 4G coverage ahead of the games.
According to the source, LTE technology is already available in 185 populated localities on the back of over 1,500 base stations operating in the 1,800MHz frequency band. 4G communication is available in all the oblast and district capitals. Over 160 base stations operating in the 2,600MHz frequency range will be commissioned soon. “We intend to increase the throughput capacity of the network because 4G services are in strong demand in Minsk,” explained Oleg Sedelnik.
