VITEBSK, 10 August (BelTA) - Rodion Timoshchenko of Belarus clinched bronze in the boxing tournament of the 2nd CIS Games in Belarus, BelTA has learned.
Rodion Timoshchenko lost to Zafarbek Kamilov from Kyrgyzstan. “I'm determined to keep practicing, take part in competitions and win,” Rodion Timoshchenko said. “I noticed that I started missing, rushing forward and not doing everything according to the technique, and the opponent took advantage. Nevertheless, it was a good experience and an incentive to work further.”
At home in Gomel, Rodion was supported by his family and friends. The Belarusians also have a big team of fans in the Orsha Ice Arena that is hosting bouts. “We feel this support as we go out to the ring. Fans cheer for us, and it gives us more strength,” he emphasized.
The 16-year-old athlete called the 2023 EUBC Youth European Boxing Championships in Yerevan and the 2nd CIS Games in Belarus the most important events in his sporting career over the past four years. “Participation in such competitions gives us international experience and confidence,” Rodion Timoshchenko added. “I will continue taking part in competitions and doing my best to win.”
The Orsha Ice Arena is hosting the boxing tournament of the 2nd CIS Games on 6-12 August. Competing for medals are athletes representing ten countries: Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Iran and Pakistan.
