On 18-19 August Minsk played host to the international cycling competitions UCI Europe Tour, #CycleChic and Velo Miss 2018 events.
Belarus takes an active part in the international cycling movement. Minsk Cup and Grand Prix Minsk in 2018 as well as the test competitions for the 2nd European Games in 2019 attract cyclists from all over the world. This year, competing in the races were athletes from 18 countries. Belarusian cyclists showed great results. Bronislav Samoilov placed second in the Minsk Cup 2018. Nikolai Shumov won the Grand Prix Minsk 2018.
The informal part of the cycling weekend was dedicated to the international campaign #CycleChic. Amateur cyclists were invited to take part, decorate themselves and their bikes. Out of 1,000 participants of the parade, 300 females participated in the Velo Miss 2018 competition. The event was won by Yekaterina Shantar. Second was Oksana Gainulina. Polina Makhanova placed third. The Velo Grace title went to Yekaterina Konenkova. Yekaterina Timashkova was named Miss Cycling. The People’s Choice Award went to Darya Maitak.
