On the evening of 12 July the Summer Amphitheater hosted a big multinational show that kick-started Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk. A couple of hours before it the professional jury headed by People's Artist of Moldova Constantin Moscovici announced the winner and prizewinners of the 16th edition of the International Junior Song Contest Vitebsk 2018.
This year the contest featured 20 contestants from different countries, including newcomers from Canada and the UK. Belarus was represented by Artyom Skorol, a soloist with the Mulyavin National Music Center. The contestants were up to a serious vocal battle: on the first day of the contest they presented a song in their native language and on the second day they performed an international hit…
The winner of the song contest was announced before the festival’s opening ceremony. The Grand Prix went to 12-year old Alexander Balabanov from Ukraine: he received the Golden Lira Award from the hands of Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko during the Slavianski Bazaar opening ceremony. He also performed on stage of the Summer Amphitheater together with famous singers.
Anna Mkrtchian from Armenia was the first runner-up; Belarus’ Artyom Skorol came second. The third place was shared by Andreea-Emira Rata from Moldova and Abilkaiyr Jumabay from Kazakhstan. The special prizes of the Union State Parliamentary Assembly went to Artyom Skorol and Margarita Vorobiova, while the special prizes of the jury were awarded to the contestants from Israel, Germany and Romania.
