Mogilev City Day

Mogilev City Day
30 Jun 2018

Last weekend Mogilev celebrated several holidays. From 28 June (the day of the liberation of the city from Nazi invaders) till 3 July (Belarus’ Independence Day) the city was buzzing with concerts, outdoor festivals, theatrical processions and fireworks.

Mogilev celebrated its 751st anniversary in style: despite the gloomy weather, a colorful theatrical procession “Mogilev: My Love, My Pride!” transformed the central streets into a true carnival place. The procession featured art groups, representatives of local enterprises and a special guest: a 6-year-old boy acting as mayor: Mitya Galinovsky recited a poem and shook hands with Mogilev Mayor Vladimir Tsumarev.

A big concert starred the artists who started their careers in Mogilev: Inna Afanasyeva, Irina Dorofeyeva, Pyotr Elfimov, Alyona Lanskaya, Iskui Abalyan, Natalia Podolskaya and special guest Vladimir Presnyakov.

During the Mogilev City Day celebrations a new ‘star’ was laid to celebrate honorary citizen, philanthropist and public figure Valery Kazakov. The Road to Happiness run featured guys in ties-butterflies and girls with bride bouquets. A series of concerts of pop and symphony music went on all the holiday weekend. The program also included art exhibitions, souvenir fairs and interactive thematic events. The 751st birthday celebrations ended with a display of colorful fireworks.
