Dinamo Stadium, which once hosted numerous large-scale sports events (including the football tournament of the 1980 Olympics) is gearing up to become one of the main sports venues during the European Games MINSK 2019. The stadium is set to host the opening and closing ceremonies of the games. Apart from that, the stadium will host athletic competitions in a new format.
The Dinamo Stadium makeover is scheduled to be over by June 2018. The general construction works have already been completed. What remains to be done is to beautify the territory of the center and test all its systems and services. The official opening of the stadium is slated for 21 June, a year prior to the start of the 2nd European Games.
Delegates of the national Olympic committees and EOC representatives took note of Dinamo Stadium during their tour of the country’s sports facilities that will be used during the European Games 2019. “The participants of the meeting were impressed with the progress made at Dinamo. We know that it is a historical building. It is very interesting to watch the reconstruction of the stadium and see how its historical part intertwines with modern technologies,” EOC senior consultant Pierce O'Callaghan said.
