Internationalist Soldiers Remembrance Day in Belarus

The internationalist-soldiers who died in the line of duty was commemorated in a ceremony on the Island of Courage and Sorrow in Minsk on 15 February.

The ceremony was held on 15 February, the day marking the 29th anniversary of the pullout of the Soviet troops from Afghanistan. It was attended by representatives of the government bodies, public and veterans' organizations, members of the Armed Forces, cadets of the military schools, and also the veterans of the Afghan war, mothers and widows of the fallen soldiers.

A message from Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko was read out by First Deputy Head of the President Administration Maksim Ryzhenkov.
