Gomel residents and visitors of the city immersed into the atmosphere of 1917: a reenactment of century-old events took place in the morning near the Rumyantsev-Paskevich Residence. Members of the military history club Chest Mundira (Esprit de Corps) and reenactors from Minsk and other Belarusian regions brought to life every detail of the notable day in the-then Petrograd. Wooden “Czech hedgehogs” with barbed wire, "barricades" of sacks, and spectacular battles between junior imperial officers and Red Guards, desperate counterattacks – shooting from Mosin-Nagant rifles, Maxim and Lewis guns, and even artillery – and, finally, Red Guards capturing the Gomel “Winter Palace”. A column of workers with a banner “All power to the Soviets!” came up to the viewers to celebrate the victory of the revolution and the establishment of the new order.
