Belarus celebrates VICTORY DAY

Belarus celebrates VICTORY DAY
9 May 2017

Spring of 2017, May, and certainly, once again the most revered, symbolical holiday, which combines an immense amount of things — Day of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Today the entire Belarus is jubilant and pays a tribute of respect to the heroes of those unforgettable events.

Following the established tradition, the celebratory marathon began in the very heart of the capital – Victory Square in Minsk near the monument dedicated to the most tragic war in the history of Belarus. Thousands of people brought flowers to the famous monument as well as portraits of the fallen heroes, war veterans and participants, their friends and family members.

A solemn march with the symbol of the Victory Banner and banners of the army fronts, which liberated Belarus, a wreath laying ceremony with the head of state and Alexander Lukashenko’s celebratory address, a minute of silence and talking to the veterans, stirring music of wartime songs, the joy of victory and tearful eyes… Everything on this day is a priceless reminder of the peace that must be maintained and that must be restored in all the countries where armed conflicts still rage.
