Gukanne Vyasny (Spring is Calling) rite in Lelchitsy District

Girls in Lelchitsy District traditionally anticipated the arrival of spring by making crowns from periwinkle plants and decorating them with cranberries. The crowns were later placed on trees, and the rite was accompanied with songs and circle dances.
