A Pull the Kolyada Up the Oak rite

A merry folk rite Pulling the Kalyada Up the Oak-Tree took place in the village of Noviny, Berezina District on 21 January. The Belarusians believed that the ritual heralds a good harvest, luck and happiness for the entire next year. The ritual has been inscribed into the State Historical and Cultural Legacy List.
