St. Elisha of Lavrishevo Monastery is one of the oldest in Belarus. First mentioned in a chronicle of 1225, it was destroyed and restored several times. The construction of a wooden temple in late 20th century marked the beginning of the contemporary history of the monastery. In August 2007, the parish was transformed into St. Elisha of Lavrishevo Monastery. Today it accommodates people trapped in difficult life situations due to their pernicious addictions: drugs, alcohol abuse, gambling. The addicts get help with accommodation and detoxification, and learn new trades and skills. They have an opportunity to express their creativity in an arts studio. The monastery regularly welcomes many pilgrims from Belarus and different parts of the world.
