Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko paid an official visit to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on 4-6 October.
In Islamabad, the head of state held talks with Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, President Mamnoon Hussain, Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan Sardar Sadiq. After the meetings the sides signed bilateral documents in various avenues of bilateral cooperation.
Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko and Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif passed a joint statement, in which the sides pointed out the constructive character of bilateral relations and reaffirmed the need to enhance them in the best interests of Belarus and Pakistan.
The President of Belarus also took part in the opening of the 4th Belarus-Pakistan Business & Investment Forum. In his speech the President said that Pakistani businessmen should more broadly use the industrial capabilities of Belarus for the sake of implementing various infrastructure projects. Belarus and Pakistan agreed to advance cooperation with third countries. Belarus’ participation in the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor can serve as an example of it.
“Our approaches to the development of bilateral relations have not changed since our previous meetings. I have grown even more confident in the sincere intent of our Pakistani partners to develop friendly relations with Minsk based on the principles of mutual trust and cooperation,” Alexander Lukashenko said after the official talks with Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
As part of the visit the Belarusian delegation comprising members of the government, ministers and other officials, directors of large enterprises held a number of meetings with Pakistani partners.
