An eventful program, a rare coincidence of the anniversaries of Belarusian classic writers, the grand opening of the first in the region Book House, more than 12,000 guests from Belarus and other countries… For the first time, the Belarusian Literature Day celebrations welcomed delegations of Belarusian communities from 19 countries. This year, the Year of Culture in Belarus, the celebrations were hosted by the spruced up ancient town of Rogachev.
Writers, journalists, publishers, culture and art workers, craftsmen and everyone interested gathered in Rogachev to attend the events of the cultural forum that lasted for three days. The highlights of the forum were the Festival of Books and Printing, the opening of a permanent exhibition celebrating the life of Belarusian playwright Andrei Makayonok, the 2016 Slavonic Literature Dozhinky, a teleconference with the twin towns of Rogachev, and the production Pesnyar dedicated to Vladimir Mulyavin by the Maxim Gorky National Academic Drama Theater. The cultural forum celebrated the anniversaries of Ivan Melezh, Ivan Shamyakin, Maxim Bogdanovich, Kondrat Krapiva, Aloiza Pashkevich (Ciotka), and Andrei Makayonok who was born in Rogachev District.
